Enjoy Al Fresco Dining at Flossmoor Station
By Carrie Steinweg published June 12, 2023
Long, sunny summer days have arrived and that means it’s patio season! What’s better than sitting outside to sip and eat on a beautiful summer day? One of the best places you’ll find for al fresco dining in the Chicago Southland is the Flossmoor Station Brewing Company. You can also bring your furry friends along with you. They’re welcome to join you on the patio.
Back before you could find craft breweries in most communities, Flossmoor Station was one of the first in the area. It opened in 1996 in a historic train station in downtown Flossmoor. Built in 1906 in a community with just a handful of homes, the station was built with Chicago executives in mind who could plan weekends and summers at a planned golf course.
The building was lovingly restored, retaining the charm of its former use and serves as a public house where commuters and locals can stop for a relaxing bites and brews - to enjoy indoors or outside in the craft beer garden, where you’ll also find a caboose that doubles as an ice cream parlour.
Live music and other events make the patio even more fun and festive. "Dog Days of Summer" just kicked off this week and will continue on Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. on the Caboose Deck where you can enjoy craft beer, wine, soft serve ice cream and treats for the doggos!
The menu is wide and varied. The large number of appetizers and sharables makes it a great spot to spend happy hour. Flatbread pizza, bang-bang shrimp, fried pickles, brew-schetta, spinach artichoke dip, brew wings and hummus with veggies are among the options. They also serve up some great burgers, salads and sandwiches. Be sure to pair them with the beer cheese soup.
Keep in mind that they also serve brunch on Sundays! Try everything from chicken and waffles to skillets to steak and eggs. Follow Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery on Facebook and @flossmoorbrewco on Instagram for updates.
