MAKE GRADY'S SNACK N' DINE YOUR NEW GO-TO BRUNCH SPOT
By Carrie Steinweg published June 24, 2024
I just love a good early hours diner - one that is open for breakfast and lunch, but where you can get breakfast whenever they’re open. I could easily survive on breakfast food for all my meals.
Sometimes it’s nice to get out early for a hearty breakfast. But when there’s a morning where you want to slow down and linger, you can make your way to Grady’s Snack and Dine for a skillet, biscuits and gravy, huevos rancheros, chicken and waffles or other traditional breakfast food when most people are eating lunch. It’s become one of my favorite brunch spots.
Located in Homewood, the eatery has a fun, retro vibe where you can get everything from a plate of eggs and bacon to a loaded burger to a classic diner meal or a number of common dishes with a twist. The place is accented with 50s-themed decor, including neon lights, chrome and vintage memorabilia.
You seriously could probably not come up with a breakfast food they don’t serve. They have a number of signature platters from the Gramm’s French’d Toast (French toast with meat and two eggs) to Mama’s Baby Cakes (a stack of buttermilk pancakes with eggs and meat) to G-pa? Waffle We do? (Belgian waffle, eggs, meat). Then there’s a menu of “The Staples” with corned beef hash, country fried steak and steak and eggs and “Grady’s Best” of fried chicken and waffles, avocado and egg toast, breakfast burrito and more. The menu continues with separate sections of skillets, omelets, pancakes, French toast, waffles, bennies, crepes, breakfast sandwich and oatmeal. Then there’s a big variety of sides to customize your meal, including Canadian bacon, grits, avocado, sautéed spinach, hollandaise, salmon, cajun ribeye, salmon patties, lox, crab cakes and more.
If you’re more in the mood for lunch, there are some nice options from creative salads to elevated grilled cheese to oversized sandwiches and burgers. Blue Plate meals include pork chops, salmon, cod, liver & onions and more.
Save room for dessert. The cakes are works of art, especially the rainbow cake slice. They also have a decadent Oreo cake, carrot cake, bananas foster cheesecake and a Reese’s Peanut Butter pie.
